What and When is Breast Cancer Awareness Month?

Breast Cancer Awareness Month: Take Action, Prevent, and Support

Every October, communities across the world observe Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a campaign dedicated to raising awareness, promoting early detection, and supporting those affected by breast cancer. From October 1 through October 31, organizations hold programs that educate the public, provide prevention strategies, and offer tools to help both women and men facing this disease.

Why Awareness and Early Detection Matter

Early detection saves lives. Breast cancer ranks as the second most commonly diagnosed cancer worldwide and remains a leading cause of death among women. Men can develop breast cancer too, which is why the third week of October is Male Breast Cancer Awareness Week.

During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we focus on:

  • Education – teaching people about breast cancer causes, symptoms, and treatments.
  • Screening & Prevention – encouraging regular self-exams, mammograms, and early testing.
  • Support & Research – connecting patients with resources and funding research to improve treatments and find a cure.

Take Control of Your Breast Health

You can protect yourself by practicing prevention, maintaining breast health, noticing any tissue changes, and scheduling regular screenings. These steps significantly improve outcomes and could save lives.

At FamWell MD, we actively support our patients’ health. This October, in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we invite you to schedule preventive screenings and take charge of your wellness.
